During their isolation, they have been busy collecting data and hosting live streams for classrooms around the world. They worked with many organizations including Polar Bears International to help spread the word.

“It is both simultaneously true to point to part of recent history and say there's a conservation success story here, and that should rightfully be celebrated, and to also say there's an immediate existential threat to the entire species right now,” said John Whiteman, chief research scientist for Polar Bears International.

“It was nice to see the bears looking relatively healthy and not too skinny,” noted Kathy Franko, who joined the trip from Watson, Saskatchewan. “We heard from a researcher at Polar Bears International in Churchill that this past spring was late and so bears had a relatively long time to hunt.”

Established in 2020, HUMANATURE represents the brand’s dedication to its sustainability and values-based initiatives— including Project Atigi and its partnership with Polar Bears International.

“If we’re asking people to conserve a large predator like a polar bear, we have to make sure people who live and work with them are safe,” said Geoff York, the senior director of conservation and staff scientist at Polar Bears International, which has led testing of several versions of the equipment. The technology could be fully deployed for the first time as soon as next summer.

The campaign for the 2023 MINI Cooper SE Electric first launched in April 2022 on Earth Day, features a partnership with MINI USA and Polar Bears International to encourage eco-adoptions from the MINI community - and the polar bear love grew from there. In response to the campaign, MINI USA received an outpouring from the MINI community with questions asking where they could get hold of a polar bear bobble head featured in the campaign.

Global warming continues to trigger the mass melting of Arctic sea ice, causing polar bears to begin gravitating toward land, scientists from Polar Bears International told ABC News. Sometimes, the closest land just happens to be populated by people, increasing the likelihood of encounters between man and beast.

The 15-year New York Giants defensive end and Pro Football Hall of Fame member was in Churchill with a crew from Polar Bears International, a Montana-based non-profit conservation organization.

Strahan spent time on a Tundra Buggy observing polar bears and highlighted Polar Bears International’s work on his roughly seven-minute long Good Morning America segment.

The introduction of the new color comes a few months after MINI launched the campaign for the Cooper SE on Earth Day. The campaign encourages eco-adoptions from the MINI Community, and anyone who donates $40 or more to Polar Bear International, the only non-profit organization that dedicates its work exclusively to polar bears and the Arctic Sea ice, or pre-orders the electric supermini this month, will receive a polar bear bobblehead

To extend the effort, the automaker also is partnering with Polar Bears International to convert the enthusiastic reaction toward the campaign into a chance to help real polar bears through an Eco-Adoption page. The partnership aims to promote awareness of the NGO’s polar bear conservation efforts.

Anyone who donates $40 or more to the conservation group via the PBI Eco-Adoption page during the month of November will receive a polar bear bobblehead and a thank-you card while supplies last. Customers who pre-order a MiniCooper SE during the month of November will also receive a bobblehead while they wait for their Mini.

There was some controversy, with critics (including some climate crisis deniers) arguing that it’s impossible to prove exactly why this particular creature was so ill. But experts agree that polar bears in general are at serious risk. “The Arctic is warming four times faster than the rest of the planet, melting the sea ice that polar bears require,” says Krista Wright, executive director of Polar Bears International. “Research shows that if business-as-usual greenhouse gas emissions continue, it’s likely that all but a few polar bear populations will collapse by 2100.”

After some amazing interactions with polar bears, Alysa McCall of Polar Bears International decided to dedicate her career to conserving this animal and its ecosystem.

Not everyone gets to be within arms length of a polar bear during their 9 to 5. But, as the director of conservation outreach for Polar Bears International, Alysa McCall does. She’s using her platform to educate and raise awareness about the challenges polar bears face in the modern day, such as losing their arctic sea ice habitat to climate change.

Dr. Flavio Lehner, the chief climate scientist at Polar Bears International and assistant professor in Earth and atmospheric science at Cornell University, and Alysa McCall, Polar Bears International staff scientist and director of conservation outreach, explained how polar bears are put under duress due to climate change, why ending emissions is key to slowing down the melting of sea ice, and how all species are connected.

“This is not safe for communities or for polar bears,” she said.
“That’s one thing we’re really focusing on during Polar Bear Week is furthering this human-polar bear coexistence, looking for solutions and help that we can offer communities around the Arctic.”

But to watch these majestic marine mammals, wildlife lovers don’t have to venture all the way to chilly Canada. Several live video streams—run by Polar Bears International (PBI), Explore.org (which also hosts Fat Bear Week) and other organizations—offer people around the world a chance to see the bears in action.

"Over the summer, the bears spread out along the coast and inland but right now they're all starting to slowly move toward the coast, getting ready in anticipation for that ice coming back," Alysa McCall, director of conservation outreach and a staff scientist at Polar Bears International, told Newsweek.v

Polar Bears International, a nonprofit dedicated to wild polar bears and sea ice, holds Polar Bear Week (this year through Nov. 5) to coincide with the Hudson Bay bear migration. The goal is to educate people about the bears and their melting sea ice habitats and encourage them to get involved to protect them.

He addressed the annual migration, the interesting things researchers observe, and how people can get involved to help the animals.
